Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done aerial or yoga before. Which class should I sign up for?

You are welcome to try any classes as these are designed for all levels of fitness experience. We recommend starting with the Fundamentals classes to become used to using the yoga postures and aerial silks in your movement. All classes focus on alignment, safety, and movement with close guidance and instruction. Once you are comfortable, you can explore our other offerings. All classes are designed with student’s goals and abilities in mind. When in doubt, ask your instructor!

What is the difference between Aerial Flow and Aerial Conditioning?
Aerial Yoga uses aerial silk hammocks that are rigged from one point and are rigged at hip height in order to act as a prop for traditional yoga poses. Aerial Bootcamp is a much more intense program focusing on cardio, high intensity type movements and strength training.
What should I wear to aerial classes?
Wear comfortable, clothing that covers to the knees and armpits to prevent silk burn. Avoid wearing baggy clothing, jewelry, and anything with hooks, zippers, or metal objects that could tear the fabric. No shoes allowed on studio floor – socks are acceptable, but many people prefer bare feet. Please make sure to also trim all nails and bath before going on the silk hammocks to respect others who will be using the silks after you!
Can I eat before yoga or aerial?
Eat a light meal 2 hours before class starts, and avoid heavy meals or acidic foods (coffee, tomatoes, soda) within 4 hours of an aerial class. Bring water to class and stay hydrated.
Can you do aerial or yoga if you are pregnant?

It is always best to speak to your physician about your own health and limitations – as every body is unique.  Please make sure to bring your doctor’s permit with you when you come to your first class.

Can I take pictures?
Yes, please do! Be proud of your accomplishments, and make memories with them so you can share with friends and family. We ask that you use video/photos for your own personal practice and growth as an aerial practitioner. If others are in your pictures or videos, we request you do not post on social media without their permission.
Can I bring a friend or family member?

Absolutely! We believe fitness should be a fun time, and encourage you to bring your loved ones with you. Children from 16 years of age with a parent and adults are welcome to our studio. If they wish to take a class with you, you will need to reserve a silk for them separately.

What ages do you train? Do you only work with females?

We work with students from 16 years old and up Fitness is accessible to all ages, and both genders.

How big are the classes?

Om Base offers aerial classes of up to 11 students so that everyone is guaranteed their own silk. All students are given hands on instruction with classes that are catered to their abilities, skills, and goals. With smaller group classes, safety is the number one priority for all students. We ask that since you must reserve your own hammock or silk to please be courteous about signing up on our scheduling software and cancelling classes before 24 hours so that other students on the waiting list may get a spot. ** All classes require pre-registration so that everyone is guaranteed their own hammock**
