WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

~ERIN F.~

~ERIN F.~

I avoided yoga studios for years due to feeling that I couldn’t afford it and thinking that I wouldn’t “belong”. I am so grateful that I found a yoga studio that feels like home with instructors who feel like family.

When I stepped into Yoga OM space I could not have imagined that in such a short time what I have come to experience would be what I have been missing and I didn’t even know it. I have been able to step onto a path that has been placed in front of me that I believe I will now carry with me each and every day for the rest of my life. My new baseline.

I took a Sunday class  (Yin Restore + Nidra) I had no clue what this class was about but left by the course description on-line I could participate (even at my beginner level) WOW! What an amazing experience. The attention to care provided was soooo comforting.

I have taken classes aerial classes as well. Each of them providing me with safe and stable support . As someone new to all things Yoga, they have given me the desire to do and learn more.  They help me believe that I can do this. I can learn new things and that whatever I am trying for the first or second time…it’s ok to just do what I can do. They have patience and show much kindness . I am grateful.

I have been a member at Yoga Om for almost a year and I am totally in love from the start! All of the instructors at Yoga Om are so kind and helpful for all levels of practice, everyone is so welcoming and positive. A true home away from home! Thank you Yoga Om!

“My name is Sarah, I am a 34 year old single mother of a very bright and energetic 4th grader. I have played many roles in my life, but health and fitness has always been a favorite topic for me. It is also something I’ve struggled with over the last decade of my life. Issues such as anxiety, depression, weight gain and overall fatigue are a daily challenge. Over the years I’ve come to understand that for me, practicing yoga in any form, keeps me motivated. Yoga ptactice helps me stay in touch the best version of myself. When I make time for myself on the mat, I feel better physically, mentally, and deep down in my spirit. I am grateful to have found Yoga Om, as not only are their classes fun and challenging, but their class times actually work for me as a working mom with little to no free time during “normal” business hours.”

“I’m so honored to be a yogi spotlight! Every since I had my daughter last April I was looking for a fitness program that helped me recover from giving birth as well as Postpartum anxiety/depression and I found that here at Yoga Om.

A fellow mom friend asked if I would be interested in coming to class with her one night and I’m so glad I said yes because I feel like I found my tribe here. Everyone is so kind and I think in a way we have the same goal. To honor and love our selves by coming to the mat. Before I started yoga I honestly thought it was all about flexibility but it is so much more. I’ve never been so much more stronger mentally and physically in my whole life that it’s opened a new passion for me. I’m happy to say that yoga has helped me in MANY ways such as community that no matter your level (whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years) welcomes you with open arms, a positive mind that is trained to love yourself, and a healthier body that helps me keep up with my soon to be toddler.

If you’re looking to truly love yourself better yoga will do that for you and I promise you you won’t regret it.

“Just breathe. I tell myself this when I wake up; when I’m rushing to get the kids out the door for school; when work falls apart and goes into crisis mode – just breath. Stopping is difficult for me. I’ve spent years slowly breaking by body down into a ragged heap of motherhood. I furthered my plight with layers of entrepreneurship, work, school and heavy drinking. I hit a wall early this year with my health and mental capacity to juggle everything I had going on. I had to stop.
Quitting my job was the first step to improvement that I had taken in a long time. The next best step? Learning to breathe again. I started yoga at Yoga Om because I was too exhausted to work out. At first the classes I took focused on restoration and relaxation. After years away from the mat I was finally learning to breath again. From restorative aerial yoga, to yin restore and nidra yoga I started branching into traditional yoga flows. My first few weeks back on the mat were so empowering! After years of neglect I was finally making time for myself again.
Since getting back into a regular yoga practice I’ve learned to breathe again; and allowed myself to rest. This has brought on a mental clarity that I haven’t felt in years! I feel healthier, happier and more equipped to deal with life each day. I’m excited to have found such an amazing community of yogis and look forward to where this path takes me.”

I’m passionate about my family and my health and also to make a difference to all the people around me.

I’ve always loved yoga, it keeps me flexible but when I hurt my back from work over a year ago my back has never been the same. Chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy do help but only temporary, so i decided to focus more on yoga and it did a better job.. with a full time and a full time non profit work I tend to forget about me, luckily my body is telling me that i need to do something…YOGA is the only way i can relieve the pain on my back…. and If I keep at it … I enjoy the days without pain cause I hate taking medicine for it…

I want to travel to more countries ( aside from the 10 countries that I’ve visited) learn their cultures and possibly speak their languages is a plus for sure.

“ I’m passionate first and foremost with my Jesus and my family. ❤️ I’m also a health and wellness advocate that loves nothing more than to help my community live healthier, less toxic lives. One day, I would love to travel all over the world— experiencing new cultures, teaching my kids about the world by taking them places, and serving others.

I took a yoga class in college and really enjoyed it. After becoming a mom and just letting life happen, it fell off to the bottom of my priority list until my sweet friend introduced me to Yoga Om. It is now one of my top priorities and favorite things to do. Self care is soooo important!

My goals:
-Retire my husband and travel the world. ✈️?✌?
-Raise my children to be respectful, compassionate, diligent, God-fearing people
-Serve my community while spreading health and happiness

Yoga Pose I want to learn:
I want to learn allllll the poses ? Eventually, I like to build the strength and the skill to do the scorpion ?

➡️ Inspiring nuggets I’d like to impart:
Invest in yourself. Take the time and the money and take care of yourself!! Your health is worth it! YOU are worth it! ??

“Many years ago – about 12 years and 3 kids, really – I spent every minute of my waking (and some of my sleeping!) hours dancing. There was nothing like twirling and gliding around the ballroom floor. It was like flying! I felt so beautiful, graceful, and free. Then, as it’s wont to do, life happened. I lost sight of myself. Reclaiming that feeling, that strength has been a long time coming.

Yoga has been so empowering. Whether it’s aerial or on the mat, there is beauty, strength, and grace in each pose. It allows me to honor who I was, love who I am, and learn a new way to fly

I am passionate about health and wellness – all aspects, physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally. I love taking my experiences with food allergies and my husband’s experience of reversing his diabetes and being able to bless people with knowledge and empowerment to be your own advocate!

I went to a small all girls Catholic High School and Yoga was actually taught there – not just for physical education, but it was also used in our religious studies class to help quiet our mind. Since then, I’ve always been a fan, but it hasn’t been until finding Yoga Om that I feel like I’ve found my “home studio”.

With our most recent diet change for reversing my husband’s diabetes, I have lost almost 40 pounds in the process ??. My goal now is to strengthen my body and continue to lose more weight. Being my husband’s caretaker has been the biggest blessing, but it has also shown me the areas of my life that I need to work on regarding self-care. That’s where yoga classes and some amazing women’s bible studies have really stepped in – it’s setting intentional time just for me!

Yoga Pose I wanna learn:
Something I want to improve upon is being able to step all the way to the front of my mat from downward dog in one fluid motion – I think that’s going to take some more flexibility!

➡️ Nugget of inspiration: Overthinking is the death of your dreams, nobody has gotten anywhere by overthinking it!

“I am passionate about my family and dogs. I homeschool my two boys and enjoy every minute of it! My dogs join me on most of my adventures. From hiking, to biking, to kayaking, one of them is usually with me. I love taking my family out so we can enjoy each other and nature. Nothing is more important than family.

I got into yoga when I was working at a bank. They offered exercise classes and yoga seemed fun. The teacher was loud, crazy, and fun. She brought positive energy to our day. I realized how good my body felt to stretch and get further with hard work. My body realigns and I feel amazing!

My goals – to be stronger, healthier and a positive role model for my children. .

Yoga Pose I want to improve:

I want to improve my form on crow. I’d also like to complete the inverted dancers pose. .

➡️ Nugget of inspiration: My piece of advice to share with others, don’t compare yourself with others. It doesn’t matter your shape, size or level of flexibility. Yoga is not a competition. Work with YOUR body and focus on your achievements. Especially the small ones; those are the ones that have the best outcomes!
